In Memoriam
October 12th will mark the 27th year of Matthew Shepard’s brutal murder. Within days of his death, candlelight vigils took place across the country in outrage, to reflect the hatred and to protest the end of homophobia in the culture at large. In the late 1990’s, the US was still in the midst of an AIDS epidemic gone global. As the Stonewall Riots, this moment pushed everyone over the edge to end this violence, permanently.
